RUSK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - Desiree Johnson, age 41, formerly of Ladysmith, WI, was originally charged criminally along with Kyle Hankins, age 33, of Ladysmith, WI, following an investigation into child sexual assault allegations that were reported to authorities in 2022.

Those original charges against Johnson were dismissed  following a court hearing in October 2023, after the Court did not find probable cause to proceed.

Hankins is still facing charges of child sexual assault and false imprisonment. Probable cause was found on his charges at a hearing in August 2024. Hankins is set to appear again in January 2025.

Online court records show that the charges against Desiree Johnson were re-filed in February 2024 in a new Rusk County Circuit Court case. At a recent court hearing, with Special Prosecutor Aaron Marcoux appearing for the State, the Hon. Judge Annette Barna found probable cause to bind the new case over for further proceedings.
