BURNETT COUNTY -- Charges including burglary have been filed against two men and one woman in Burnett County Circuit Court after law enforcement responded to a report of a suspected burglary which culminated with the suspect vehicle crashing as it attempted to leave the scene.
Law enforcement received a report of a suspected burglary and vehicle crash in the Town of Wood River on January 4, 2021, according to a criminal complaint filed in Burnett County Circuit Court.
The property owner who called in the suspected burglary stated that as he approached his property, a vehicle was pulling out of the driveway and it appeared that the vehicle was attempting to strike the property owner’s vehicle.
The vehicle then crashed and rolled on its side just west of the address where the alleged burglary occurred.
At the site of the crash, the vehicle’s rear window was open and the Deputies located numerous items near the vehicle which were identified by the property owner as belonging to him.
Three individuals were located inside the vehicle that crashed: Trent Sutherland, age 28; Scott Capistrant, age 29; and Paige Hom, age 20. All three were taken into custody.
When Deputies checked the property, they found a door open on the east side of a pole shed and snow inside the pole shed from someone walking around.
The property owner told law enforcement that he did not give any of the 3 permission to be on the property or to remove any items from the property.
Online records show that all 3 appeared for bail bond hearings on January 5, 2021. The Court placed Sutherland on a $1,000 cash bond; Capistrant on a $500 cash bond; and Hom was placed on a $10,000 signature bond.
Sutherland is charged with Class F Felony Burglary of a Building or Dwelling (Party to a Crime); Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property (Party to a Crime); Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Property (Party to a Crime); and 3 charges of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Charges of Misdemeanor Neglecting a Child; Misdemeanor Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoid; Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia; Misdemeanor Bail Jumping; Misdemeanor Battery; and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct are also filed against Sutherland in three separate Burnett County Circuit Court cases which were filed in 2019 and 2020. Details of those cases are not known to DrydenWire, however, Sutherland is due to appear again in February 2021 regarding his charges.
Capistrant faces charges of Class F Felony Burglary of a Building or Dwelling (Party to a Crime); Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property (Party to a Crime); Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Property (Party to a Crime). He is scheduled to appear again in March 2021 regarding his criminal charges.
Charges filed against Hom include Class F Felony Burglary of a Building or Dwelling (Party to a Crime); Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property (Party to a Crime); Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Property (Party to a Crime). She is set to appear again in March 2021 regarding her criminal charges.
