POLK COUNTY -- In a press release issued on January 23, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff's Office reported a concerning incident involving a suspicious death in rural Osceola, situated in the town of Farmington in Southwest Polk County.
On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Polk County Sheriff Brent Waak issued an updated press release, this time identifying the suspect.
Sheriff Waak identified the arrested suspect as 41-year-old Jared Ler'che and added that this case has been ruled a Homicide. Waak also identified the deceased victim as 34-year-old Margaret Ler'che.

Polk County Sheriff's Office Investigates Suspicious Death In Farmington
POLK COUNTY -- In a press release issued on January 23, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff's Office reported a concerning incident involving a suspicious death in rural Osceola, situated in the town of Farmington in Southwest Polk County.
On the evening of Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 9:30 pm, the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a check welfare call concerning an individual in the specified location. Upon arrival, deputies made entry into the residence, where they discovered the lifeless body of the victim.
In response to the gravity of the situation, law enforcement took swift action by securing the residence. The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Mobile Crime Lab, was promptly engaged to provide expertise and support in processing the scene.
A person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with this case. The authorities have reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.
The investigation into this suspicious death is currently active and being conducted collaboratively by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Polk County Medical Examiner. The release indicated that the names of both the victim and the suspect will be withheld for the time being.
Sheriff Waak urged the public to remain patient as the authorities work diligently to gather all pertinent information. The decision to withhold names is a standard practice in ongoing investigations, aimed at preserving the integrity of the process.
