Arrest Made in Cumberland Church Arson Case

BARRON COUNTY – Kyle Alfonse has been taken into custody following an investigation into a fire intentionally set at Northern Lakes Community Church earlier this month, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

The Cumberland Police Department has made an arrest in connection with an arson incident that occurred on April 1, 2026, at Northern Lakes Community Church, located at 825 8th Avenue in the City of Cumberland.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on April 1, 2026, officers responded alongside the Cumberland Fire Department to a fire alarm activation at the church. Upon arrival, emergency personnel located smoke within the building and a small fire in a storage area near an overhead garage door. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the fire had been intentionally set. Evidence collected at the scene indicated the use of an accelerant.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle Alfonse was taken into custody in connection with this incident. The case has been referred to the Barron County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging decisions.

At this time, this remains an active investigation. No additional information is being released.
