(Press Release) -- Volunteer Partners of Spooner Health held their annual Love Light ceremony at the new hospital on Monday, December 5.
This year’s event was organized by Betsy Andrea and featured the Spooner Chamber Ensemble and Pastor Brent Berkesch of Faith Lutheran Church.
Over the last few months, people could make a minimum donation of $3 and “purchase” a red, blue or white light for someone special. This year, there were 124 lights in memory of someone, 25 lights in honor of someone and 12 for peace or to recognize someone who has or is serving in the military.
Mike Schafer, Spooner Health CEO, welcomed everyone and read the names of all those whom lights were purchased in memory or honor of or recognized for serving in the military.
Partners raised just over $900 that will be used toward scholarships for local students going into a health-related field in the coming year.
