Alcohol, Weather Factors In Fatal Rollover Crash On Thanksgiving Near Cumberland

BARRON COUNTY — Road conditions and alcohol were contributing factors in a fatal rollover crash near Cumberland, WI on Thanksgiving morning, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff's Department.

(Press Release) — On Thursday November 28, 2019 at 12:14am the Barron County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a one vehicle rollover on Hwy 48 east of Cumberland.
 
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office along with the Cumberland Police Department, Cumberland Fire Department, Cumberland Ambulance and North Memorial Helicopter all responded to the scene.

Initial investigation shows a Chevy truck lost control, went into the ditch and rolled several times.

The driver of the truck Cole R. Schiebel, 21 of Kewaskum, WI was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Cumberland Hospital where life saving measures were administered but due to the severity of his injuries, he passed away.

Road conditions and alcohol are contributing factors to this accident.

Sheriff Fitzgerald also wants to remind everyone that Drinking and Driving do not mix when it comes to safety on roads.

"Drinking and driving is 100% preventable and we don't want to have to do another death notification ever, but especially over the holidays," Fitzgerald said. "Please stop drinking and driving!"
