POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - After being convicted in May 2024 by a jury in Polk County for the 1985 homicide of Yvonne Menke, 81-year-old Mary Josephine Bailey has now been sentenced.
Charges were filed against Bailey after she was arrested in Arizona following a breakthrough in the decades-long investigation. After an eight-day trial, the jury deliberated for less than 3 hours before returning with a guilty verdict. Bailey remained in custody, on a $300,000 cash bond, until her sentencing hearing on July 2, 2024.
