BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - At a recent court hearing, Darryl Hanson, age 71, of Danbury, WI, entered a plea of Not Guilty to the charges filed against him regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 2, 2022, in Burnett County. The Officer’s actions during the incident were found to be reasonable and Burnett County District Attorney Rennicke commended their “bravery and steadfast devotion to service to the community” in a letter he issued on July 22, 2022.
Hanson received over a dozen criminal charges including Felony Recklessly Endangering Safety, Intentionally Point Firearm at a Law Enforcement Officer, Operating a Firearm While Intoxicated, and Endanger Safety/Use/Dangerous Weapon. At a recent hearing, the Court found probable cause to bind the charges over for further proceedings. Hanson is scheduled to appear again in May 2024 and remains subject to the conditions of a $5,000 signature bond that was ordered for him in December 2023.
