Washburn County Hires New Extension Educator

UW-Extension Washburn County is excited to announce the addition of a new Natural Resources Extension Educator, Madeline Roberts.

Over the past several months, the Washburn County Extension Committee has been dedicated to working with the Area Extension Director, Lori Baltrusis, to identify the best ways to utilize Extension resources for Washburn County.  The Committee identified issues such as: Lake and River Management, Water Quality Management and Coalition Development. The position also has a secondary focus on Organizational Development, Strategic Planning and Community Needs Assessment.

Madeline’s educational background includes both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Fisheries and Wetland Ecology. She has experience working for Wisconsin and Indiana DNR as well as teaching at the collegiate level. Madeline has worked in several natural resource areas, including wildlife, water quality, aquatic invasive species, and fisheries. Madeline will be defining her plan of work after meeting with community members to help determine priority programming. “I am excited to start building relationships and to learn more about the amazing natural resources that benefit Washburn County residents and visitors,” Madeline reports.

Light refreshments will be served on Tuesday, July 10th from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Washburn County UW-Extension office, 850 Beaverbrook Ave, Suite 1, Spooner.  Please plan to stop in the office and meet Madeline.  We hope you can join us!
