18-Year-Old Charged In Barron Stabbing Incident

BARRON COUNTY — Criminal charges have been filed against 18-year-old Emmanuel Torres of Cumberland, WI following a stabbing incident that occurred at Anderson Park in Barron, WI on October 31, 2019.

Shortly after 5:30p on October 31, 2019, Barron County Law Enforcement were dispatched to Anderson Park in Barron, WI to a report of a stabbing, according to the criminal complaint filed against Torres. The Barron Police Department was assisted by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department and the Cameron Police Department. While officers were en route to the scene of the incident, Barron County Dispatch received a call from Torres, who allegedly stated that he had just stabbed someone; describing what he was wearing; and advising of his location in the park.

Law Enforcement located Torres in the park near the playground equipment and holding something in his hand. When told to drop the item and get on the ground, Torres complied. After being taken into custody, Torres allegedly told officers that he had stabbed two people, going on to say where he thought he dropped the knife, however, officers were not able to locate the knife, according to the criminal complaint.

Officers made contact with two individuals who had sustained stab wounds; an 18-year-old male, and his 41-year-old father. The two men were transported for medical care. The criminal complaint states that both of the stabbing victims have been released from the hospital. Their current condition is not known to DrydenWire.com at the time of this post.

Numerous witnesses at the park spoke with Law Enforcement about the incident, stating that Torres was seen at the park with a 15-year-old female, and that an argument ensued between the two stabbing victims and Torres about the fact that he was with an underage female.

Online circuit court records show that Torres is currently facing charges of Misdemeanor Sexual Contact with Child Age 15, Actor Under 19 and Class C Felony 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of Child filed against him in Barron County Circuit Court in October and September 2019. Torres is subject to bail bond conditions on those cases which prohibit him from having contact with minor females other than family members.

The criminal complaint states that doctors told the younger male victim that if one of the stab wounds had been a ½ inch deeper, it likely would have killed him.

Torres is charged with Class F Felony 2nd Degree Reckless Injury, Class H Felony Battery - Bodily Harm, and 2 counts of Class H Felony Bail Jumping.

At a hearing on November 5, 2019, Torres was placed on a $2,000 cash bail bond. He is scheduled to appear again later in November, 2019.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
